NBA PLAYOFFS RECAP: 06/02/2021

  • WIZARDS 112
  • SIXERS 129

No Embiid, no problem for the Philadelphia 76ers. They handed the Washington Wizards their fishing licenses because they’ve gone fishin’ (yes; I took this from the TNT crew).

How did the Sixers get past the Wizards without their MVP candidate you ask? Well, they have three players step up BIG.

Ben Simmons, who suffered through the “Hack-A-Simmons” in the previous game, stepped up by pouring in a tripe double. He finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The always reliable Tobias Harris played great as he has all season when Embiid’s been out. He poured in 28 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

When you think of Curry lighting up in the postseason, you think of Steph. But on this night, it was brother Seth, who lit it up.

Curry dropped 30 points on 10-17 shooting, including 3-6 from deep.

With Washington out of the way, the Sixers will watch to see who their next opponent will be. Hmm…

  • HAWKS 103
  • KNICKS 89

When the regular season ended, many people believe the New York Knicks were back! The only person who didn’t believe the Knicks were back was the Atlanta Hawks.

Okay, they’re an organization, not a person, but you get it. The Hawks, led by Trae Young, just dominated the Knicks after their game 2 loss.

Young scored 36 in this closeout game, while the Knicks big man and the NBA’s Most Improved Player, Julius Randle finished with a double-double, but once again, he struggled to shoot the ball.

Randle scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, but only shot 8-21 and 3-9 from three.

If the Knicks want to become a contender, in my opinion, they need to bring in a scorer who can be the number one option, which will move Randell to number two.

I believe he’s more comfortable being the second option, and that’s okay. So, what will the Knicks do this off season?

  • GRIZZLIES 110
  • JAZZ 126

After the Grizzlies stole game 1 from Jazz in Utah, some people believed the young boys from Memphis, led by Ja Morant, could take this series.

Of course, Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz star who didn’t play in their Game 1 loss, had other plans.

Mitchell scored 30 more points on 11-16 shooting, and Mitchell hit 5 of his 8 three point attempts. The Jazz star also added 6 rebounds and 10 assists.

With the Grizzlies out of the way, the Jazz will sit back, relax, and wait to see who they play next…

  • MAVERICKS 105
  • CLIPPERS 100

The Utah Jazz’s second round opponent will either be the Dallas Mavericks or the Los Angeles Clippers.

After dropping their first two games at home, the Clippers were ready to defend home court, and they were feeling good after beating the Mavs both times in Dallas.

To keep this series on the same script, of course, the Clippers would lose at home again. The reason they couldn’t defeat the NBA’s team from Dallas is because of a baller named Luka.

Doncic would ball out, scoring 42, dishing out 14 assists, and oh, yeah, grabbing 8 boards as well.

Even though the Clippers made the game close at the end, what clinched the game for the Mavs was their 16-0 run to end the third quarter. After that, I knew the Clippers were toast.

The main question now is, will the script remain the same by letting the Clippers win game 6 in Dallas? Or will Doncic flip the script and send his team to the second round.

Tune in on Friday, June 4th, at 9 PM Eastern.
